Fox hunting – still protesting this shit

2 years ago I wrote THIS blog post about Tory attempts to repeal the Hunting Act and I can’t believe we’re STILL having this argument and I’m STILL having to protest this shit.

It’s illegal. Give it up. Find another hobby. One that doesn’t involve foxes being torn apart and hunting dogs being mistreated and destroyed.

  1. You are absolutely right. I had to witness fox hunting with hounds and horses at my old place. They do it for 5 hours and you never ever hear a shot fired. Thank god crimewatch caught 2 of the guys from that “club”. In addition to the poor foxes, people forget what happens to other wild/life around. I have 2 horses who are allowed to be flight animals and haven’t been bullied into numbness. I thought they were going to faint, they were so terrified. Soaked in sweat and hyperventilating.

    • Thanks for your comment, Debra.
That’s really worrying to hear that. I’m glad those guys were caught. People just don’t realise the effect on other wildlife in the area. 5 hours is a heck of a long time for a fox fleeing for its life.

What annoys me the most is when hunters try to make out the hunt is sensitive to animal welfare – not a chance.

      • Yeah, exactly. Like: the poor lambs etc etc Well, don’t you eat lamb chops yourself? Or there is now natural predator in the UK. Why is that? Let me guess because your ancestors killed them all and you are afraid to reintroduce them. Maybe the reason the fox eats so many lambs is because there are too many due to extensive monoculture farming. You can find a lot of dead wild animals near the road but you’ll never find a fox. The worst thing ever if when they justifiy this with keeping up traditions. Women weren’t always allowed to vote, do you want to keep up this tradition too. A**holes. Keep up the good work.

  2. Spot on! There is so much hypocrisy in it. Foxes are scavengers and hunters, they eat to survive. If they eat a lamb that’s your produce then bad luck, doesn’t mean any other random fox deserves to be hunted. Hunting as predator management is a myth that has been debunked anyway.

  3. I still cannot believe that the fox hunting ban is under threat yet again. When will they give up attempts to repeal the bill? Not only is it horrendously cruel but also to continue pursuing this self centred goal is undemocratic, as the Tories know perfectly well that the majority of people are opposed to it. We in fact need to go even further and ban all hunting and shooting, consign it to history where it belongs.

    • I completely agree. In a way, although it is a totally selfish policy, I’m glad it’s on the agenda again – gives the other parties a chance to tighten up the legislation and extend it, as you say, to shooting. The illegal shooting of prey birds has been going on and on.
